Thinking about getting away but want to stay close to home? How about Ormond Beach? Nestled on the east coast of Florida, just north of Daytona Beach, this sleepy little beach town is exactly what the doctor ordered. Roughly 3 hours from Citrus County and you are on the sand, and feeling the surf.
The good news is that there are numerous hotels on the beach that are reasonably priced that offer direct beach access. Most of them are clean and of the 3 star variety. There are not a ton of great restaurants or other things to do but your there to enjoy the BEACH. Which is uncrowded and nice. Including the sunrises and the surf.
