Serious anglers have been hooked on Citrus County for generations. And with its teeming lakes, rivers, estuaries and the Gulf of Mexico, it’s no surprise that the area is fabled for fishing. Few destinations can offer the variety of angling experiences found in Citrus County. You can bring your lightest-weight fly rod, your favorite fast-taper bass rod, your deep-sea rig or your crappie stick. Because no matter what kind of fishing you prefer, you’ll find success somewhere in Citrus County.
Citrus County boasts seven beautiful rivers, with the Crystal and Homosassa Rivers especially beloved by fishers and boaters. Redfish, trout and jacks are common river catches there, especially in the cooler months. The grassy flats and estuaries where the rivers meet the Gulf are ideal for tackling several species, including the tarpon that school there in spring. (Kayak fishing offers a fun way to reach many otherwise inaccessible estuaries.)
Crystal River and Homosassa on the Gulf of Mexico are your gateways to saltwater angling excitement. Popular saltwater catches include cobia, red grouper, mackerel, gag grouper, grey snapper, hogfish, sheepshead, snook and triggerfish. Massive tarpon, redfish and more are also common catches offshore, especially in the warmer months. Inshore anglers won’t want to miss the renowned bass fishing found in Inverness and Floral City. The Tsala Apopka lake chain boasts some of the very best freshwater fishing you’ll find anywhere. And fish attractors in several lakes—including Big Henderson and Little Henderson East lakes in Inverness, Lake South in Floral City, and Lake Todd and Hernando Lake in Hernando—draw species year round. Largemouth bass, crappie and panfish (especially bluegill) are common catches. Seasonally, the best fishing times are typically from January through March/April for bass, from April/May through September for bluegill, and from November through January for crappie. Withlacoochee State Trail is a wide, asphalt-paved trail 46 miles long, that follows much of the course of the Withlacoochee River. The trail is built on the former right-of-way of an abandoned railroad track and spans several counties as it traverses mile after mile of natural lands and riverbanks. Ideal for bicycle touring, the trail also attracts roller blade enthusiasts and equestrians who appreciate the dirt path that parallels the entire trail. On the north end, the Citrus Springs Trailhead provides parking, restrooms, a drinking fountain and maps. From there, riders go generally southward, skirting the lake in Hernando, to the charming town of Inverness. There, the rider can enjoy two lake-side parks with facilities or go off the path for shopping and restaurants. The trail continues southward through Historic Floral City. Pine Ridge is an Equestrian Themed Community, so bring your horses or just your love of horses. With the acre lots, it is a great place for gardening

PINE RIDGE REAL ESTATE VALUE
What constitutes value is of course the price of something but it also combines all the features that come along with the product and as you can see, Pine Ridge Estates offers an incredible lifestyle that is incredibly inexpensive when compared to other areas of Florida. Especially when you take into account that Pine Ridge Homes offers one acre to five acre lots. Let’s break down the value even farther. At the present time, a pool home that has all the upgrades that you would come to expect with a new roof and new AC is on the market for roughly $105.00 to $125.00 a square foot. Even if you wanted to build a new home in Pine Ridge, you are looking at roughly $135.00 per square foot for a well-appointed home with a pool and a lot. Most other areas of the state, you are looking at $150.00 per square foot and up. That does not include an acre lot and the tranquility of this area. Bottom line, Pine Ridge Homes is more than just inexpensive square foot pricing, it is about an incredible lifestyle with second to none tranquility. PINE RIDGE HOMES UPDATE
Since there I have met a lot of couples that are not married looking to purchase a home, I thought the below information will be very helpful but with that being said, I want to discuss what is happening with Pine Ridge Homes right now and how you can be the smart buyer. As we speak, there is a lull in the action with sales. There are a lot of lookers but not a lot of buyers. This tells me two things. Number one, there are a lot of folks just starting the process and plan to make their purchase later in the spring or summer. (65% of the homes are sold within a 4 month period of April, May, June, July) Or number two, their expectations are not in line with what is available today. Maybe they have been in the market for a while and are a bit disappointed that the price has went up.
Here is the deal, if you are truly in the market for a new home and you are in the first camp of not wanting to do anything until later, you need to rethink your strategy. I have seen it for three years now, where there is a lot of looky lou activity proceeded by a buying frenzy. I can tell you by first hand experience that sellers are always frustrated and will be more willing to take a little less at this time than their expectations but not crazy. Case in point, I have had numerous ridiculous offers and my sellers have tried to meet them at a fair price and the buyers have not come up.
What is going to happen is as soon as the spring selling season hits, these sellers will get their prices and the low ball buyers will have to come up where as if they were reasonable now, they would have a paid a few thousand less for the home. Bottom line, the sooner you can come to the table with a fair offer, the better chance that you will get a better deal on your home. Now if you are in camp two, and you are frustrated and feel like you missed an opportunity, you need to rethink your expectation level. I can go on and on but unless there is a national economic issue, the prices are going to stay the same or rise a tad. With that being said, our area is definitely in a time warp but as we move forward, there is going to be more and more people finding us that were looking in other areas of the state, which will increase demand. Bottom line, Florida overall is a hot market because of our low cost of living and weather and Pine Ridge Homes mirrors this. Prices will not be falling so you need to come to terms and make a move.
